I have met so many people who have tried to get into the internet marketing business on a full time basis and failed miserably. It is very easy to fail at this business because people drastically underestimate the amount of time it is going to take them to build up their business to a point where they can live off of that money. Folks, when you are first starting out, this business it is not very easy.
It looks easy because you think you have the skills for doing it. It looks like something that anyone could do. You think you are smarter than most people so you will pick up on it quicker than most people. I am telling you that you are fooling yourself. There are a lot of very smart people who try to do this and fail miserably. I know a bunch of them.
I highly recommend you approach this business on a part time basis at first so you can learn the ropes slowly. There is an awful lot to learn and the information is constantly changing as the search engines change their algorithms. You will need to learn some basic programming. Yes you will. The guys who tell you otherwise are trying to sell you some snake oil. You will need to learn some. Not a lot, but some. The more you learn, the better and faster you will be at creating profitable sites.
You can start out slowly by building one website. You can learn how to get that site to rank in the SERPs. Then monetize it and see how much you can earn from it. Chances are, you will end up sinking a ton of time and effort into the site only to find out it earns diddly squat. Then you will be saying, ”Man, I sure am glad I don’t need this for a paycheck.” If you need a reliable paycheck, go get yourself a traditional job that gives you just enough free time to learn this business.
Once you have been learning this business part time for a year or more and you begin to experience success with it, you can ramp up your commitment and begin doing it more seriously. Eventually you can even do this business full time if that is what you desire. But, you have got to go through the growing pains first.
If you are working another full time job you will also have a few bucks that you can spend on internet marketing tools. The tools will accelerate your ability to see results with your efforts. Each tool serves a purpose. You should only get one tool at a time and learn how to use it properly before moving on to the next one.
Build on your successes one at a time until you reach a point where you can shoot for the moon. At some point prior to that you may decide this business is not for you. Once you learn what you are doing the rewards are plentiful, but getting to that point is challenging even for a persistent person.
