Everybody and their brother wants to get into internet marketing. People think that just because they can surf the internet and know a little more than the average person about computers that they are somehow qualified to throw some piece of crap affiliate site up and start earning some coin.
They envision how easy it is going to be. It has got to be easy to do it. Just look at all those crappy affiliate sites you come across on the internet. Those guys have to be making money right? Wrong. Most of those sites you find on page two or lower in the search engines don’t make any real money. There are some exceptions, but not many. You would have to have hundreds or even thousands of those types of sites to make any real money. Plus, as the internet evolves, the search engines are pushing those sites farther and farther down in the search results. Chances are, if you aren’t on page 1 in the search results then you aren’t making great money with your site.
Making more than a couple dollars a month with an internet marketing business actually requires more work than you think. I can assure you one thing. If you are a beginner at this, you will hit so many roadblocks along the way to learning what really works and what doesn’t that you are probably going to quit like 99 out of 100 of your other internet beginner noob buddies.
Most people just don’t have the determination to keep trying and keep working to find a way to get it done. They just keep looking for that one program they can buy or that one top secret piece of advice that is buried online somewhere. Deep down they are hoping that this one secret or this one piece of software is going to propel them into the ranks of the successful internet marketers.
They just sit back and keep buying all the crap that the so called internet marketing gurus are trying to sell them. They buy their crap so they can make money, but the only one making money is the internet marketer who sold them that product. Meanwhile, they keep putting in all these hours in front of their computers constantly checking stats waiting for the Google Adsense earnings to come in.
Then they go buy a book by someone like Joel Comm. After reading that they start believing that this thing is a numbers game. They sink about 500 hours or so of their time into building their little Google Adsense empire that earns all those impressive 3 cent clicks. At the end of the month, they’ve got a whopping five bucks in their account. Heck, they haven’t even made enough money to get their first check from Google. Google holds your account until you reach a minimum threshold.
This is what noobs do. They haven’t learned the right things because they are listening to the wrong people and trying to figure things out for themselves. They aren’t thinking outside of the box enough because they lack the experience and understanding of this business. Internet marketing success comes with time. It is not something you will succeed at instantaneously. Get that out of your head right now.
It is going to take a long time for you to really understand how things work and learn what you are doing. Those tools and software programs are useful but not a magic bullet. It is better that you wait to buy them until you have learned how to do everything manually first. Once you have done everything by hand, you will understand where the value in these programs comes from. You will be able to tell which ones are really going to help you and which ones are junk.
